Centre for Photonics Fabrication Research
The Centre for Photonics Fabrication Research (CPFR) was established in March 2005 as a collaborative research program by four Ontario universities: Carleton University (Lead Institution), McMaster University, the University of Ottawa and York University. The Ontario Research and Development Challenge Fund (ORDCF) awarded a major research grant to CPFR whose management office is located in the Faculty of Engineering and Design at Carleton University. The main objective of CPFR is to establish research and training projects in photonics and optoelectronics for the design, fabrication and testing of novel photonic components and subsystems. These projects will enable collaboration among university researchers, large companies, SMEs and start-up companies in Ontario, university-based fabrication facilities and the Canadian Photonics Fabrication Centre (CPFC) at the National Research Council (NRC). CPFC was recently established at the Institute of Microstructure Sciences (IMS) of NRC to enable the accelerated prototyping and fabrication runs of novel photonic components under development. CPFC was co-founded by NRC and Carleton University through infrastructure grants from the Federal Government and the Government of Ontario. |
