Fire Restriction

Due to the recent rain in the area, the fire risk in the region has decreased. Therefore, in conjunction with Alberta Wildfire we are downgrading the Fire Ban to a Fire Restriction.  Areas of exposed cured fuels still pose a significant fire risk.  The Restriction will take effect for the areas within the borders of the MD #133 of Spirit River

Please exercise caution when conducting activities in dry cured fuels.

Open burning of heavy fuels is based on case by case, use extreme caution.

Safe Campfires are allowed as well as recreational fire pits with a valid permit in the town of Spirit River and the Village of Rycroft.

Please make sure your campfire is completely extinguished when you leave it (Soak It, Stir It, Soak It Again).

Clear debris from hot spots on your Off-Highway Vehicle (Knock It Off).

This Restriction will remain in place until conditions improve. We are expecting more rain this week and will follow up on the fire rating at that time.

If the fire hazard continues to increase, further actions may be implemented.

Always check with https://albertafirebans.ca/

Please contact MD Administration office (780) 864-3500, if you have any questions about this restriction.
